Job Overview

This role is based in the scenic Otago region of New Zealand, offering a residential working arrangement that eliminates the need for fly-in fly-out (FIFO) shifts. Candidates will have the opportunity to enjoy an excellent work-life balance, living near locations such as Dunedin or Oamaru, with access to stunning beaches, landscapes, and numerous outdoor recreational activities including skiing, hiking, and water sports.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Jumbo development drills safely and efficiently to mine headings and install ground support according to mine standards.
• Ensure all headings are excavated to the correct size, alignment, and inclination.
• Install ground support that meets or exceeds minimum required standards.
• Conduct all tasks with safety as the top priority, stopping work if unsafe conditions arise.
• Accurately mark drill faces following Mine plans and memos, precisely following instructions.
• Serve as senior team members by fostering a positive team environment, leading by example, and mentoring trainee operators.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 10 years of underground mining experience, including a minimum of 5 years operating Jumbo drills.
• Demonstrated proficiency installing bolts and mesh and drilling headings, including declines.
• Proven operational experience with Sandvik Jumbo Drills.
• Experience with Spiling and SDA equipment is considered a plus.
• Familiarity with Loader Operations and Development Charge Up activities.
• Possession of a current full driver’s license.
• Current First Aid certification.
