Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated Environmental Scientist to join our Ecological Services team remotely, supporting projects primarily from our Golden, Colorado office. This role involves managing and analyzing environmental data, conducting terrestrial and aquatic surveys in the field, collecting and processing samples, and preparing detailed technical reports under direct guidance from senior environmental scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire, organize, clean, analyze, and visualize environmental data to support project objectives and decision-making processes.
- Perform field data collection using electronic devices, which may include travel to remote, outdoor locations.
- Collect, document, and manage samples such as water, soil, and other environmental media.
- Prepare comprehensive written summaries and technical reports outlining field operations and analytical findings.
- Operate and maintain field vehicles and sampling or monitoring instruments.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or a related field.
- Between 1 and 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Solid understanding of fundamental environmental science concepts and methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL for data handling, analysis, and visualization tasks.
- Advanced competency with GIS software, including ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, as well as open-source GIS tools like QGIS, Python, and R for geospatial data interpretation.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness and ability to engage in travel and outdoor work in potentially remote settings.
