Role Overview

As an EHS Specialist, you will serve as the vital link between our strategic safety objectives and their practical application across our Last Mile logistics locations. You will be accountable for advancing a sustainable safety and compliance culture and ensuring adherence to all pertinent German occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations. Your scope covers around 20 delivery hubs distributed throughout Germany.

Please note that the position requires approximately 90% travel availability and a valid Class B driver's license.

Additionally, this position is fixed-term for 24 months, with intentions for possible extension to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate company-wide HSE policies into specific operational actions tailored for logistics hubs.
• Conduct and enhance risk assessments per the German Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG), including detailed documentation and follow-up on corrective measures.
• Lead accident and root cause analyses and develop sustainable preventive initiatives to avoid repeat incidents.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory requirements in occupational safety and environmental law, including ArbSchG, BetrSichV, GefStoffV, BImSchG, and DGUV regulations.
• Carry out regular inspections and audits in operational environments and provide active training and coaching to leaders for hazard recognition.
• Improve safety procedures through structured process and risk management techniques aimed at continuous enhancement of the safety culture.
• Support organizational changes and guarantee that HSE standards remain a top priority during growth or transition phases.

Candidate Profile

• Completed academic degree or vocational training in occupational safety (e.g., Sifa), environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
• More than three years of pertinent EHS/HSE experience in manufacturing, distribution centers, or warehousing, ideally with insights into traffic safety and fleet management.
• Strong expertise in German occupational safety and environmental legislation (ArbSchG, BetrSichV, GefStoffV, DGUV rules), logistics-specific safety requirements, fire protection standards, and ideally environmental permitting under BImSchG; knowledge of ISO 45001 and 14001 is beneficial.
• Fluency in German and English at minimum C1 level for both languages.
• Analytical, methodical, and solution-focused mindset capable of translating complex issues into practical safety strategies with a holistic perspective.
• Excellent communication and advisory skills in collaborating with operational teams.
• Team-oriented personality who enjoys cross-functional cooperation and consistently enhancing workplace safety.

Additional Information
