About the Role
The Wellington Catholic District School Board is seeking to fill two 100% permanent Educational Assistant positions for a 10-month term at St Mary Catholic Elementary School in Mount Forest, Ontario. The anticipated start date is September 2, 2026. This part-time role encompasses 35 hours per week, typically 7 hours per day, and offers hourly compensation ranging from $28.27 to $33.13.
Primary Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of the principal, classroom teacher, and in consultation with the special education resource teacher, the Educational Assistant will support individual students or groups as identified by the site-based special education team. The role involves assisting exceptional students with their personal, social, academic, and physical development in a compassionate, professional manner while adhering to confidentiality requirements.
- Assist in the development, execution, and reporting of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for exceptional or designated exceptional students.
- Support students with tasks such as eating, hygiene, washroom routines, physical exercise, communication, life skills, and supervision during lunch hours.
Qualifications and Experience
- Prior experience as an Educational Assistant within the Wellington Catholic District School Board is preferred.
- Completion of at least two years of post-secondary education in areas relevant to child development or special education, such as an Educational Assistant Program Certificate or Early Childhood Educator Diploma.
