Role Overview
The Domestic Assistant will provide essential cleaning services across NHS Lanarkshire premises to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. This role involves maintaining hygiene levels that meet NHS Lanarkshire and Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) standards using effective cleaning methods.
Work Schedule
The position requires working Monday to Friday during backshift hours from 3pm to 10pm, subject to service delivery needs and location assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute varied cleaning tasks using equipment and machinery that involve manual handling and lifting.
- Maintain cleaning standards as per specified schedules and promptly report any inaccessible or uncleaned areas to supervisors.
- Apply cleaning chemicals and agents responsibly, adhering to Health & Safety protocols and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
- Carry out comprehensive cleaning duties including equipment, furniture, fittings, and surfaces such as bedside communication systems, bed frames, and patient chairs in accordance with Daily Weekly Cleaning Schedules (DWCS) and job plans.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with cleaning standards and relevant procedures.
- Willingness to complete on-the-job training and induction over 4 to 6 weeks to gain full competency.
- Understanding of Health & Safety practices including risk assessment of cleaning tasks.
- Ability to perform assigned chores effectively and efficiently within a busy healthcare environment.
