Direct Support Professional

About the Role

Help at Home is actively seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes and communities in Meridian, MS. This position offers hourly wages ranging from $13 to $15, with pay distributed weekly, and supports career advancement opportunities within the leading in-home support provider to seniors.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with everyday activities including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and transportation.
• Encourage involvement in social and community engagements such as shopping and events.
• Support clients in achieving personal milestones and recognize their progress.
• Promote autonomy, choice, and self-advocacy for those assisted.
• Maintain accurate records of care, activities, and client progress.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent and high-quality support.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• High school diploma or an equivalent credential.
• Completion of background checks and mandatory training.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation, with current insurance (primary or secondary).
• Capable of providing safe, respectful care in clients’ homes and community settings.
• Demonstrated compassion, reliability, and a commitment to positively impacting others.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.
• Ability to implement Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
• Familiarity with behavioral support methods such as redirection, visual cues, and environmental adjustments.
