Overview
This role is a contract position focused on providing comprehensive desktop support services. The Desktop Support Specialist will be responsible for imaging, deploying, configuring, and maintaining Windows desktops, laptops, and related peripherals, ensuring smooth IT operations and excellent customer service within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and image Windows desktops and laptops utilizing Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), SCCM, Microsoft Intune, or similar tools.
- Set up and configure workstations including monitors, docking stations, printers, and other peripherals for both new hires and current employees.
- Conduct workstation hardware upgrades, refreshes, and equipment replacements as needed.
- Manage migration of user profiles, data, and applications to new systems to ensure continuity.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to hardware, software, printers, and network connectivity.
- Install, configure, and provide support for Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft 365 suite.
- Join computers to Active Directory and manage user account settings, permissions, and group policies.
- Deliver deskside support with a focus on outstanding customer service.
- Handle service requests and incident tickets, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Support and maintain conference room technology, video conferencing tools, and shared devices.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of desktop IT assets and document assignments appropriately.
- Escalate complex technical problems to senior staff as necessary.
- Document technical procedures, builds, and deployment workflows meticulously.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Desktop Support, Help Desk, or IT Support roles.
- Proficient in imaging and deploying Windows workstations in enterprise environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience with Active Directory user administration and account management.
- Familiarity with enterprise imaging tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, MDT, or Autopilot.
- Skilled in installing and configuring desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, docking stations, and related peripherals.
- Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience working with support ticketing systems like ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or Freshservice.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities combined with clear communication and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift and transport computer equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background supporting enterprise-wide workstation refresh or migration projects.
- Familiarity with Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Experience managing hardware asset inventories and related systems.
- Possession of industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
