Position Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst for a 12+ month contract based in Orlando, FL with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days onsite, 1 remote). The role demands strong expertise in statistics, machine learning, and AI, with an emphasis on independently managing experiments from design through analysis and effectively communicating findings to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct A/B testing and other experimental methodologies such as multivariate tests, holdout groups, and switchback experiments for product and marketing strategies.
- Utilize causal inference methods including difference-in-differences, propensity score matching, synthetic control, regression discontinuity, and instrumental variables when randomized experiments cannot be implemented.
- Select suitable statistical tests (e.g., t-tests, chi-square, ANOVA, Bayesian approaches) based on dataset traits and business context.
- Estimate sample sizes and statistical power, guiding stakeholders on minimum detectable effects and experiment feasibility prior to launch.
- Develop Python-based reusable analysis pipelines employing libraries like pandas, numpy, scipy, and statsmodels to streamline experiment analytics.
- Craft and optimize complex SQL queries for extracting, transforming, and validating behavioral and experimental data.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketing teams to define experiment scope, success metrics, ensure correct randomization, and instrumentation.
- Identify and flag potential threats to experimental validity such as data quality concerns, sample ratio mismatches, and novelty effects before decisions are affected.
- Present detailed experiment design, methods, and results clearly both in reports and presentations to stakeholders of varied technical backgrounds.
- Create dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau, Looker, or Python plotting libraries to monitor experiment performance in near real-time.
- Contribute to advancing the experimentation platform, internal standards, and best practices within the company.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in data analysis, including at least 3 years designing and evaluating A/B tests or experiments within a professional environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Python for statistical analysis and data manipulation, including libraries like pandas, numpy, scipy, and statsmodels.
- Expert understanding of statistical hypothesis testing and advanced causal inference techniques beyond basic A/B testing.
- Solid grasp of experimental design fundamentals, including randomization, power analysis, MDE considerations, novelty and network effects, and common pitfalls such as peeking and Simpson’s paradox.
- Adept at converting ambiguous business questions into detailed, testable analyses with clear communication of related trade-offs.
- Experience communicating complex technical insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
- Comfortable working with large, heterogeneous datasets and adept at detecting and resolving data integrity issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using experimentation platforms like Adobe (preferred), Optimizely, Statsig, GrowthBook, or building internal testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with Bayesian statistics and sequential or always-valid testing strategies.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git and writing production-grade reusable code.
- Background in consumer products, subscription services, streaming, or e-commerce industries.
- Knowledge of data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Looker.
- Experience with marketing experimental designs including geo-testing and media mix modeling.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay ranging from $70 to $73
- Comprehensive medical insurance coverage
- Competitive salary package
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Additional benefits beyond those listed
