About Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab is an integrated space enterprise providing launch services, spacecraft design and production, satellite components, and related payloads aimed at broadening space access. Our Electron rocket ranks as the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket yearly, having deployed over 230 satellites to orbit. We are advancing development of Neutron, a reusable medium-lift vehicle to support larger satellite constellations. Rocket Lab's Space Systems division manufactures satellites and payload components, including those selected for NASA’s Moon and Mars missions, and instruments used in the James Webb Space Telescope.

Role Overview

As a member of the Production team, specifically the Composites group, you will fabricate key Electron rocket parts ranging from pressurized tanks and structural assemblies to propellant filters, payload hardware, and heat shields. Your tasks will encompass all production stages following Rocket Lab’s stringent quality standards and meeting scheduled targets set by production leadership.

In this hands-on position, the Composite Technician operates tools, equipment, and facilities to build, launch, or test launch vehicle components, contributing significantly to production and launch timelines. The current position involves working evening shifts, Monday to Thursday, from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM.

Required Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in a related field or minimum of two years relevant industrial experience.
  • Expertise in precise lamination techniques with prepreg systems.
  • Proficiency in tooling prepreg lamination methods.
  • Knowledge of bagging processes for oven and autoclave curing.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laminate and assembly drawings to ensure conformity and quality.
  • Competency in performing measurements and calculations common in marine or composite environments.
  • Prior experience working with multi-layer insulation (MLI) and heat-shield material fabrication.
