Role Overview

The Communications & Visibility Lead is responsible for enhancing the brand recognition, reputation, and communication effectiveness of the We Can Work programme at global, regional, and national tiers. The role transforms programme evidence, innovations, learnings, and impacts into compelling stories that boost influence, engage stakeholders, highlight donor contributions, and propel Light for the World's strategic ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute We Can Work's communication strategy aligned with Light for the World's brand standards and global priorities.
  • Serve as the primary strategic communications liaison for the programme within the Global Communications & Brand Team and with key stakeholders including Programme Management, International Communications, country offices, the Mastercard Foundation, and implementing partners.
  • Collaboratively develop yearly communication plans and major outreach campaigns; advise leadership on positioning and audience engagement tactics.
  • Manage the narrative framework, messaging, and programme positioning.
  • Lead integrated communications and campaigns that convey programme outcomes through audience-tailored storytelling.
  • Coordinate communications for major external engagements, events, partnerships, donor visibility initiatives, and critical stakeholder interactions.
  • Oversee dissemination via organizational, partner, media, and other channels; monitor effectiveness and audience engagement to enhance future communications.
  • Provide leadership and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams within Global Communications & Brand, Technical Advisory Services, programme and country teams.
  • Establish governance for communications and cultivate a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and excellence within the We Can Work ecosystem.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading strategic communications, branding, or campaigns, preferably within international and matrixed organizations focused on mission-driven goals.
  • Proficiency in end-to-end communication strategy development covering narrative building, campaign execution, dissemination, and measurable visibility outcomes.
  • Strong storytelling ability, transforming complex data and impacts into engaging, audience-centric narratives.
  • Experience managing brand consistency and communication quality across diverse channels, audiences, and multiple countries.
  • Familiarity with donor-funded programmes and partnerships, especially with foundations such as the Mastercard Foundation.
  • Understanding of multi-country, multi-year programme technical requirements, including expertise in learning, documentation, and knowledge management.
  • Effective stakeholder management and influence across multicultural and multinational environments, including senior leaders, donors, and partners.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and flexible approach to strategy development without a predetermined playbook.
  • Deep commitment to accessibility and inclusive communications practices.
  • Fluent English language skills; additional languages relevant to programme countries advantageous.

Benefits and Work Environment

  • Join a highly motivated team appreciative of your expertise and eager to develop monitoring and steering mechanisms collaboratively.
  • Opportunity to drive impactful change through a reputable international development organization growing its profile.
  • Encouragement and space for exploring innovative approaches, piloting new ideas, and excelling individually and collectively.
  • Emphasis on maintaining a healthy work-life balance with flexible work hours and options for remote work.
  • Professional environment supporting continuous learning and development.
  • Cultivation of a learning culture valuing learning from mistakes for ongoing growth.
