About the Role
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who thrives on precision and variety, handling complex custom machining projects rather than routine production tasks. Positioned in Tauranga, this role involves taking engineering drawings through to the completion of high-quality precision components across multiple industries.
You will work primarily with engineering plastics, composite materials, and metals, utilizing state-of-the-art CNC machinery and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC machine programs from engineering drawings.
- Create and refine CAM software programs for machining tasks.
- Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines accurately.
- Produce precision parts meeting stringent tolerance specifications.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure finished components meet standards.
- Choose suitable tooling and machining methods for each job.
- Diagnose and resolve machining and programming challenges promptly.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and production teams to achieve project goals.
- Maintain rigorous safety practices and keep the workshop clean and organized.
Qualifications and Skills
- Trade qualification in Machining, Fitting & Turning, Toolmaking, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in CNC programming and operation.
- Proficiency in CNC milling and turning processes.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings.
- Deep knowledge of machining techniques and tolerance requirements.
- Experience using CAM software tools.
- Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with machining engineering plastics is highly beneficial.
