Role overview

This position supports day-to-day warehouse activity by managing the receipt, storage, movement, and issue of materials, while keeping inventory information precise and aligned with company processes. The role also helps protect company property through careful documentation, handling differences in stock records, and following all health, safety, environmental, and quality rules.

Key responsibilities

• Check incoming materials, compare them with the accompanying documents, and confirm they are correct.
• Carry out stock taking and inventory checks on a regular basis.
• Record warehouse transactions accurately in the ERP system.
• Keep all warehouse paperwork and transaction files organized and up to date.
• Escalate shortages, damage, and other stock differences to the supervisor.
• Follow all requirements related to health, safety, environment, and security.
• Assist internal customers in a timely manner when they collect materials.
• Make sure requested materials are prepared and available when needed.
• Report environmental, health, and safety incidents and accidents without delay.
• Issue materials only against approved requisitions and reservations, following the established procedure.
• Place and store materials in the correct bin locations according to storage standards.
• Release directly purchased materials to end users based on the transaction record and issuing procedure.
• Move all received items from the receiving warehouse to satellite warehouses according to procedure.
• Load and unload vehicles used to receive and distribute items to satellite warehouses and end users.
• Verify stock arriving from the receiving warehouse against the GRN to confirm quantity and item condition.
• Spot possible stock shortages early and inform the supervisor.
• Regularly confirm item accuracy and update bin locations when required.
• Raise non-conformance issues and report them to the Material Engineers.
• Maintain a clear sequential filing system for all transaction records and reports.
• Keep assigned warehouse areas clean and orderly.
• Support safe practices for handling and storing materials.
• Perform daily pre-use checks on machinery to identify safety risks and confirm mechanical condition.
• Operate forklifts safely to load, unload, and move palletized materials between staging areas and delivery vehicles.
• Complete any other warehouse, receiving, issuing, or stock-control duties assigned by the supervisor.

Experience and qualifications

The role requires a Certificate or Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Materials Management, or a similar field. The candidate must also be registered with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB). A minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse receiving, storing, and issuing work is needed. Hands-on exposure to ERP systems, preferably SAP, is expected, along with experience using warehouse equipment such as forklifts and/or light vehicles.

Skills and knowledge

This job calls for strong inventory control, warehouse operations knowledge, logistics and distribution understanding, and comfort working with ERP/SAP systems. It also requires attention to safety and quality, good time management, analytical thinking, clear communication, cost awareness, emotional intelligence, a continuous improvement mindset, and stakeholder management ability.

Additional information

Applicants should be able to work in an onsite warehouse environment in Geita, Tanzania. The role involves material handling, stock control, documentation, and operating warehouse equipment as part of daily duties.
