Role overview
We are hiring a Cleaning Technician to support commercial hood cleaning work at client locations. This is a hands-on, physically active position that suits someone who enjoys practical work, can follow procedures closely, and is comfortable working with a team during overnight hours.
No prior experience is required, as training will be provided. That said, experience with mechanical tasks, electrical work, or kitchen hood cleaning would be an advantage. The role focuses on assisting the crew lead with completing each job efficiently and to a high standard, with a strong emphasis on pressure washing and wiping down vent hood systems.
The work is fast-paced and team-based, and it offers opportunities to grow, learn the company’s systems, and be recognized for quality performance.
Work schedule and environment
Shift timing is flexible but must cover nights and early mornings. Jobs are typically carried out Sunday through Thursday overnight, roughly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. In most cases, two locations are cleaned each night.
You should be prepared to work outdoors in both hot and cold weather and to travel from the main office in the Pelham area to client sites across Central Alabama in a company truck.
Key duties
- Clean commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ductwork, filters, and exhaust fans.
- Assist with setting up and dismantling each job site and the equipment used.
- Hang plastic sheeting, secure ladders, wipe stainless steel hood surfaces, and prepare wet/dry vacuums, hoses, and pre-sprayers.
- Use cleaning tools and equipment such as wet/dry vacuums, high-pressure hoses, and pre-sprayers.
- Help maintain the condition of customer equipment and report any issues or deficiencies.
- Complete assigned jobs from beginning to end with minimal supervision.
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers while delivering strong service.
- Adapt quickly, work efficiently in a busy environment, and take pride in producing quality results.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle for commuting to the operations location in Pelham.
- Clean and safe driving history.
- Ability to pass both initial and ongoing background checks.
- Ability to pass both initial and ongoing drug screening.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for up to 100 feet.
- Ability to kneel and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort climbing ladders daily and working at heights.
- Cell phone for work communication.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the company’s processes and methods.
- Ability to follow safety and work instructions carefully.
- Team-oriented mindset and willingness to take direction.
- Previous experience operating a scissor lift or articulating boom lift is beneficial.
