Role overview

Serco is hiring a full-time Cleaner for its Goose Bay operation in Happy Valley–Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. In this role, you’ll support a high-standards team delivering services tied to Royal Canadian Air Force operations at 5 Wing Goose Bay. The position involves routine cleaning, housekeeping, and support work across facilities and accommodation blocks, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and teamwork.

The work environment supports Canada’s defence mission, including operations, emergency services, logistics, and engineering support for the Department of National Defence. Serco’s team works closely with military clients and internal teams to provide dependable service in a demanding setting.

Key duties

• Carry out assigned work according to supervisor instructions and checklist priorities.
• Dust, sweep, mop, scrub, wax floors, and remove waste materials.
• Lift and move supplies, tools, boxes, and equipment using safe handling practices.
• Use industrial cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet shampoo machines, and buffing machines, including walk-behind and ride-on units.
• Clean windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
• Perform housekeeping services in accommodation blocks.
• Take down and re-install window coverings, including dusting and spot-cleaning them.
• Drive assigned vehicles when required for section-related duties.
• Replace light bulbs as needed.
• Demonstrate Serco’s values and work practices while completing daily tasks.

Requirements

• Secondary school completion may be required.
• A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 driver’s licence is required.
• You must be able to obtain and keep a Secret Level II security clearance.
• Ability to lift approximately 9 kg / 20 lbs is required.
• Previous experience in cleaning work is required.
• You must be able to complete a drug and alcohol test.
• You must be able to provide a driver’s abstract.

Compensation and working details

The hourly wage is $27.78, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is a full-time position, and employment begins after background checks are completed and the agreed start date is reached.
