Role Overview
The Civil Design Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Brisbane Area. Responsibilities involve preparing civil engineering designs and documentation related to land development, road construction, and stormwater management ensuring adherence to local codes and regulations. Daily duties include creating concept and detailed designs using civil design software, coordinating with project managers, surveyors, and other specialists, and reviewing site data, reports, and plans. The role supports subdivision layouts, grading and drainage plans, infrastructure servicing designs, preparation of technical reports, design assessment, and assisting with authority approval processes. Collaboration with construction teams to clarify design issues and participation in improving design methods and standards are also key aspects.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Solid background in Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design with capability to develop accurate and regulation-compliant documentation.
- Expertise in land development design, including layouts for subdivisions, site grading, and infrastructure planning.
- Experience in stormwater management design covering drainage systems, detention and retention basins, and flood mitigation aligned with local standards.
- Proficiency in roadway design aspects such as alignment, cross-sectional profiles, and related infrastructure for urban and residential projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; membership in professional engineering bodies is advantageous.
- Skilled in civil design and CAD software (e.g., Civil 3D or its equivalents) and adept at interpreting survey and geotechnical information.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to effectively liaise with multidisciplinary groups, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving acumen, dedication to safety, quality assurance, and sustainable design principles.
- Residence within South East Queensland with local experience is mandatory.
