Overview
This executive leadership role is with a partner company based in the United States, focusing on steering technology initiatives within a rapidly growing health tech organization. The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will direct engineering, artificial intelligence, and platform innovation to significantly impact business outcomes. This key leadership position involves shaping an AI-centric product ecosystem aimed at enhancing access to critical services for diverse populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a comprehensive technology and AI roadmap aligned with business expansion, product development, and operational efficiency.
- Drive the transformation toward an AI-first ecosystem by integrating advanced AI technologies, including large language models and machine learning, into core offerings.
- Lead and mentor technical teams to uphold excellence in engineering quality, agility, and delivery.
- Make strategic decisions on AI and machine learning architecture to ensure scalable, secure, and competitive solutions in a dynamic technology landscape.
- Oversee engineering and AI budgets emphasizing capital effectiveness and measurable returns on technology investments.
- Implement robust data governance, security, privacy, and compliance practices to safeguard sensitive data and enable enterprise-level operations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership across functions to align technology capabilities with growth objectives and customer requirements.
- Develop and implement talent management strategies including succession planning and mentorship to foster organizational strength and minimize reliance on individual key personnel.
- Provide guidance during technological transitions ensuring knowledge continuity and dependable project execution.
- Set global technical strategies to support distributed engineering teams for effective collaboration and scalable delivery.
- Maintain a balance between innovation, security, compliance, and operational standards while accelerating product development.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- At least 12 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership roles such as CTO or VP of Engineering within a high-growth B2B SaaS context.
- Proven leadership during phases of organizational growth, transformation, and strategic shifts.
- Experience in developing and scaling AI/ML products, encompassing large language models, AI agents, predictive analytics, and modern AI systems.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), APIs, microservices, data platforms, and managing extensive software systems.
- Successful track record in recruiting, growing, and retaining high-performing engineering teams with a focus on operational effectiveness.
- Expertise managing technology budgets with a focus on resource optimization and clear business impact demonstration.
- Deep understanding of security, compliance, and governance frameworks including HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, IAM, and risk management methodologies.
- Experience with operational disciplines such as performance feedback, succession planning, reliability engineering, and scalable delivery processes.
- Strong executive communication skills with ability to distill complex technical information into clear business implications and collaborate across functions.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in healthcare technology (EHR integrations, FHIR standards, payer/provider ecosystems), global team management with remote collaboration, and familiarity with MLOps, model governance, data engineering, and technologies like GCP, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Node.js, and AI/ML frameworks.
