About Heal Care Group

Heal Care Group is a specialist residential care provider focusing on trauma-informed support for children and young people. Currently, the group operates three Ofsted-rated Good children's homes in the West Midlands. The organization is strategically expanding both organically and through acquisitions, intending to triple the number of homes with an upcoming acquisition. Additionally, it is developing a proprietary care and operational platform to enhance compliance, documentation, referrals, quality assurance, and management reporting across the organization.

Role Overview

The newly established Chief Operating Officer (COO) position reports directly to the CEO and leads the transition of operational management from the founder to a dedicated executive team as the group expands. The COO will be responsible for constructing the operational framework and managing daily business activities across the group.

Key Responsibilities

• Integration of acquired services including people, systems, processes, and culture while keeping stable performance in current homes.
• Creation and management of the group's operating rhythm, including leadership meetings, KPI tracking, and performance oversight.
• Management of commercial functions related to referrals, occupancy planning, and fee administration with care leadership making final placement decisions.
• Collaborative budget management and cost control with the CFO, focusing on workforce effectiveness and agency cost reduction.
• Leadership of operational HR tasks, supported by a strategic People Adviser for complex strategies and issues.
• Oversight of property, maintenance, procurement, insurance, health and safety, business continuity, and crisis management.
• Management of IT systems, data protection compliance, and central system operations.
• Ensuring corporate and statutory compliance including Companies House obligations with outside advisor assistance.
• Leading the adoption and rollout of the group’s operational platform.
• Supervision of marketing efforts, employer branding, and external communications.
• Collaboration with care leadership to identify and establish new homes.
• Development and management of a central operations team.

Experience and Skills Required

• Proven senior operational leadership in regulated, multi-site organizations.
• Proficient in building operational infrastructure, including processes, teams, reporting systems, and commercial processes.
• Experienced in integration and post-acquisition activities or managing complex cross-departmental change initiatives.
• Strong commercial acumen with accountability over occupancy metrics, budgeting, and cost efficiency.
• Ability to operate effectively across all organizational levels from individual homes to board-level stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in children’s services or related care sectors.
• Experience collaborating with regulated care management roles such as Responsible Individuals or Registered Managers.
• Interest in leveraging technology and data to optimize organizational operations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from £100,000 to £120,000 based on experience.
