Role Overview
The organization is seeking a Category Specialist to enhance the capabilities of its dynamic Procurement team in Newcastle. Reporting to a Category Manager, the specialist will be instrumental in implementing procurement strategies and managing tenders for goods and services during a pivotal period. The role promotes collaboration within a friendly, close-knit team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage specific procurement categories.
- Lead contract negotiations effectively.
- Negotiate pricing terms with suppliers.
- Analyze spending patterns and review expenditure levels.
- Mitigate commercial risks impacting the company.
- Support the achievement of sustainable procurement goals.
- Travel occasionally to operational sites as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in procurement, category management, or sourcing.
- Strong skills in negotiation and tender leadership.
- Highly developed analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with the mining, resources, or construction sectors is preferred but not mandatory.
