Position Overview
At Perry Homes, employee benefits are central to how we support our workforce and their families. As we expand, we seek a Benefits Manager who can meticulously oversee benefit programs, lead with clear intent, and continually enhance how benefits serve our employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning, design, and management of Perry Homes' benefits offerings, emphasizing the refinement of our self-funded medical plans.
- Analyze plan outcomes, usage patterns, expenses, and employee feedback to spot enhancement opportunities.
- Collaborate with brokers and external vendors to advocate data-backed modifications benefiting employees and the organization.
- Stay informed on current benefit trends and propose new initiatives to upgrade offerings.
- Supervise and mentor the Benefits Specialist team member, managing coaching and professional development.
- Act as the main contact for employee benefits inquiries, working alongside the Benefits Specialist to resolve issues while building their expertise.
- Coordinate with the Benefits Specialist to balance administrative tasks while ensuring excellent service quality.
- Chair the Perry Homes Benefits Committee by organizing meetings, preparing agendas, and tracking follow-ups.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Talent leadership to align benefits decisions with company goals.
- Communicate recommendations and progress updates effectively to stakeholders.
- Ensure benefits communications are clear, punctual, and understandable company-wide.
- Lead comprehensive planning and implementation of open enrollment periods.
- Provide trusted guidance to employees and leadership regarding benefits-related topics.
- Manage daily benefits operations, ensuring accuracy, full compliance, and thorough documentation.
- Oversee Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation protocols, ensuring adherence and efficient communication.
- Supervise compliance and reporting for Workers' Compensation.
- Maintain adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing employee benefits.
- Develop and sustain systematic processes, schedules, and reporting mechanisms for all benefits activities.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills by anticipating needs proactively rather than reacting to emerging issues.
- Partner closely with the Head of Talent to provide frequent updates, insights, and actionable recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with Payroll, Finance, Legal, IT departments and external vendors to ensure smooth benefits program execution.
- Identify risks and opportunities early and present solutions promptly.
Qualifications
- More than a decade of progressive experience managing benefits, including expertise with self-funded plans.
- Proven leadership experience managing and growing team members.
- Deep knowledge of benefits compliance and regulatory governance.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to juggle multiple priorities independently.
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong ownership mentality and follow-through capabilities.
- Effective communicator with aptitude for simplifying complex benefits information.
- Experience within expanding or multi-state companies is advantageous.
- Consistent, reliable attendance during standard business hours (Monday through Friday) is essential.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
The role may occasionally require standing, manual dexterity, writing, sitting, computer use, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and lifting items up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds. Vision requirements include perception, depth, and focusing ability. Work is predominantly in an air-conditioned office, with occasional exposure to outdoor or non-air-conditioned spaces.
