Overview
The Audio Visual Specialist is responsible for designing, installing, optimizing, and supporting sophisticated audio-visual systems. This role demands a meticulous professional capable of transforming client needs into comprehensive AV solutions combining cutting-edge technology with excellent user experiences. Collaboration with sales, project management teams, and onsite technicians is essential to ensure flawless project delivery from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed AV system designs, selecting suitable hardware, software, and network components.
- Create system diagrams, schematics, and architectural plans using industry-standard applications like AutoCAD and Visio.
- Manage and supervise onsite installations adhering to design, safety standards, and best practices.
- Configure and calibrate AV equipment including audio processors, video switchers, displays, and control systems such as Crestron and Extron.
- Provide advanced Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support, promptly diagnosing and fixing system issues.
- Execute quality assurance procedures including signal flow verification, performance tuning, and ensuring interoperability.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to adjust project scopes, schedules, and resources as needed.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders such as clients and internal teams to guarantee satisfaction with AV solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct training for end-users, internal personnel, and field technicians on operating and maintaining AV systems.
- Keep updated on emerging AV technologies, industry standards, and trends.
- Propose system upgrades and innovative improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and user experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields; equivalent professional experience may be accepted.
- At least 3 years of practical experience in AV system engineering, integration, or support, preferably with exposure to ELV systems.
- Demonstrated success working with professional audio, video, conferencing, and control systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AV equipment such as digital mixers, DSPs, video processors, projectors, LED walls, microphones, and cameras.
- Experience utilizing control platforms like Crestron, AMX, Extron, and video conferencing tools including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Webex.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP, VLANs, PoE, and AV-over-IP protocols.
- Proficiency in CAD software, signal flow diagramming, and detailed documentation tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively explain technical information in simple terms.
- Problem-solving aptitude, adaptability, and careful attention to detail.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with a strong dedication to meeting project deadlines.
- Preferred certifications: CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), Crestron or Extron Programmer certifications, and Dante Certification Level 2 or higher.
