Associate QA Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous Associate QA Engineer with 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in software testing to join our quality assurance team. In this role, you will ensure the quality and dependability of web and mobile applications through involvement in test planning, creation and execution of test cases, and defect management.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirement documents, system requirement specifications, user stories, and functional specifications to grasp system needs before commencing tests.
• Develop detailed test scenarios and comprehensive test cases derived from requirements to achieve adequate coverage.
• Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing on web and mobile applications across various browsers, devices, and environments.
• Detect edge cases, alternative workflows, and boundary conditions to verify application behavior beyond typical scenarios.
• Document and track defects with clear reproduction instructions, supporting details, and severity ratings using defect management tools.
• Verify bug fixes and conduct regression testing to maintain system stability during product releases.
• Engage in release testing cycles and sprint validation to confirm feature completion and overall product reliability.
• Maintain test artifacts including documentation, execution reports, and QA records to facilitate traceability and quality monitoring.
• Assist in preparing test summaries, status updates, and QA reports throughout development and deployment phases.
• Work closely with business analysts, developers, project managers, and senior QA staff to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and enhance product quality.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and reviews.
• Conduct basic API validations and data consistency checks to ensure proper integration behavior.
• Own assigned features or modules, ensuring comprehensive testing and readiness for release.
• Contribute towards improving test coverage, methodologies, and QA processes within the team.
• Support testing of AI-driven or data-centric features by validating output correctness, response consistency, and expected system conduct across varying inputs.
• Proactively learn and expand knowledge on automation basics, structured testing techniques, emerging QA tools, and AI testing practices.

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Basic knowledge of performance and security testing concepts.
• Interest in learning test automation frameworks like Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Introductory scripting skills in Python, JavaScript, or Java to aid automation efforts.
• Experience or exposure to AI-enabled applications such as chatbots, recommendation systems, or generative AI, including insight into testing prompts, output accuracy, and edge cases.
• Understanding of contemporary QA practices, including continuous testing within modern DevOps pipelines.
• Ability to use AI tools for test case creation, test data generation, and efficiency enhancement.
• Curiosity about synthetically generated or structured test data management.
• Experience or willingness to learn mobile application testing, including frameworks like Appium.
• Inclination towards risk-based testing and prioritization in test planning and execution.
• Commitment to ongoing learning of QA tools, methodologies, and industry trends.
• Certification such as ISTQB or equivalent is advantageous.

Experience & Education

• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in software testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Master of Computer Applications; graduates are eligible.
