Role Overview
The Assistant Farm Manager will be integral in supporting the farm's overall operations by managing daily activities, utilizing resources efficiently, and upholding superior standards of quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all farm operations comply with company policies and best practices.
- Manage daily farm activities, including crop and inputs supervision.
- Oversee irrigation management and coordinate production planning and execution.
- Facilitate coordination between the farm and the dehydration plant to maintain smooth operations.
- Maintain quality control and traceability of production processes.
- Identify and implement technological and procedural enhancements to improve production plans.
- Collaborate with the Farm Manager to prepare the annual budget and monitor expenditures, ensuring they adhere to budget limits.
- Implement cost controls and internal procedures in compliance with local regulations and management policies.
- Develop plans for equipment replacement and capital investments to optimize farm efficiency.
- Promote and ensure a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety policies and supporting related training programs.
- Manage efforts to reduce workplace hazards and implement corrective measures as necessary.
Candidate Profile
- Graduated from university or an agricultural college, preferably with postgraduate qualifications in agricultural engineering.
- Possess over six years of relevant professional experience.
- Fluency in English is essential; Spanish language skills are advantageous but not mandatory (language training provided if needed for operational communication).
- Proficient in general computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with SAP is beneficial.
- Exhibit strong leadership qualities with the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and make decisions effectively.
- Display excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities along with skills in problem analysis and solution proposal.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and maintain a friendly, approachable attitude.
Compensation and Benefits
The position may involve a 'fly-in, fly-out' work pattern with six weeks stationed in Argentina followed by two weeks at home, to balance professional responsibilities and personal life. The estimated gross annual salary is $73,600, supplemented with the following benefits:
