As an AI/ML Engineer, you will contribute to shaping the future of simulation and design automation by creating AI systems that simulate engineering reasoning. Your work will involve designing, training, and deploying machine learning models that accelerate simulations, enhance precision, and open new opportunities for exploring design alternatives—ranging from adaptive solvers and reduced-order models to generative design and real-time verification.

Collaborating closely with experts in both engineering and applied AI, you will integrate machine learning techniques directly into high-precision simulation workflows. Your efforts will enable faster iteration, earlier issue detection, and improved product development outcomes. This is an early-stage position offering significant influence in a dynamic startup environment. Visa sponsorship is provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate, design, and implement AI and machine learning algorithms addressing complex challenges in CAE, simulation, and automated design.
• Develop scalable AI-driven solutions and partner with cross-disciplinary teams to embed models within existing CAE infrastructure and workflows.
• Drive optimizations to boost model performance, analyze outputs critically, and resolve system bottlenecks.
• Manage full lifecycle AI/ML initiatives, from initial research and prototyping to deployment at production scale.
• Collaborate with domain experts to create physics-informed and geometry-sensitive machine learning methods.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in developing and deploying impactful AI/ML models within engineering or scientific applications.
• Minimum 2 years in a technical leadership role overseeing AI/ML projects from concept through production.
• Expertise in Python and contemporary AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Experience working with AI/ML models for sequential, spatial, or physics-based data types, including time series, meshes, or simulation data.
• Knowledge of MLOps best practices and experience delivering AI/ML systems from prototype stages to scalable deployments.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated analytical problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail and successful project delivery.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with CAE, CAD, or PLM software such as ANSYS, SolidWorks, Abaqus, COMSOL, CREO, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience working in fast-moving, early-stage startup environments.
• Proficiency in additional programming languages like C++ or Java, alongside Python.
• Understanding fundamental engineering concepts related to simulation, modeling, and optimization.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary range from $150,000 to $250,000, dependent on experience.

This position is based full-time onsite at our San Francisco, California headquarters. Candidates must be able to work from the office.
