About the Island Gold District

The Island Gold District is expected to grow into one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mining operations in Canada. The district includes the Island Gold and Magino mines, which together employ more than 900 people across underground and open-pit activities. The site is located in northern Ontario, just east of Dubreuilville and 83 km northeast of Wawa. The team works in a long-life mining environment with a strong emphasis on employee growth, high performance, safety, and accountability.

Role overview

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Wash Bay Attendant is responsible for cleaning, washing, and carrying out basic checks on mobile mining equipment in an open-pit setting. The role helps keep equipment reliable, ready for preventive maintenance, and safe to operate by making sure machinery is free of mud, debris, and buildup.

What you will do

• Clean and steam-wash heavy mining machinery such as haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, drills, and support vehicles.
• Remove dirt, grease, oil, and accumulated material from equipment, parts, and undercarriages.
• Perform simple visual checks during cleaning to spot leaks, damage, unusual wear, or missing parts, and share findings with maintenance staff.
• Keep the wash bay tidy, orderly, and properly drained.
• Use wash bay tools and equipment safely, including pressure washers, steam cleaners, pumps, and related devices.
• Dispose of waste in line with site environmental rules and regulatory standards.
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements.
• Wear and maintain the required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Support maintenance staff with minor equipment service-related tasks when needed.
• Prepare and submit required paperwork and reports accurately and on schedule.
• Work outdoors in changing weather and around active mining machinery.

Qualifications and experience

• A high school diploma is required.
• Experience in a wash bay, mining, construction, or heavy equipment environment is an advantage.
• Basic familiarity with mobile mining equipment is helpful.
• Ability to notice possible mechanical concerns during visual inspections.
• Comfort with shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.

Working conditions

This is a physically demanding role that involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using high-pressure water equipment. The work environment includes noise, vibration, water, mud, grease, and changing temperatures in an industrial open-pit mine.

The schedule is based on a camp operation with a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation, working 12-hour shifts.

Pay range: CAD 33.25 to CAD 54.67.
