Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Warehouse Manager to oversee our distribution centers located in East Tamaki and Penrose. The role involves direct leadership of a sizeable team, including 5 team leaders and around 50 warehouse staff across three shifts. The position focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective warehouse operations while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing warehouse team to meet operational goals.
- Create and maintain a strong culture of safety, employee engagement, and accountability within the warehouse.
- Ensure precise inventory management and consistently achieve warehouse performance metrics.
- Initiate and drive improvements across personnel, processes, and systems to enhance operational excellence.
- Consistently meet Delivery in Full, On Time (DIFOT) and customer service objectives.
- Collaborate effectively with departments including Planning, Production, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and HR to optimize operations.
- Engage in operational planning and pursue opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with company warehouse procedures, quality standards, inventory controls, and audit requirements.
- Promote robust employee relations practices such as performance management, training, attendance oversight, and workforce development.
- Champion health and safety protocols in alignment with the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and Vitaco’s safety standards.
- Support training initiatives, attend meetings and company events as an operational leader across all shifts.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, distribution, or FMCG manufacturing environments.
- Proven capability in coaching, mentoring, and team development.
- Deep understanding of warehouse operations, inventory controls, and transport coordination.
- Experience leading continuous improvement and operational excellence projects.
- Strong health and safety leadership background.
- Competence in managing budgets, labor costs, productivity, and service levels.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory management software, or warehouse management systems is advantageous.
- Experience managing large teams and multi-site warehouse or manufacturing operations.
- Responsible for three warehouse sites.
- Must have full New Zealand working rights.
