Role overview
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking motivated and enthusiastic people to work as Ward Clerks across two community hospital settings. One opportunity is based at Melton Community Hospital, and the other is at Loughborough Community Hospital.
The Melton role is for 22.5 hours across three days per week, with working days spread between Monday and Sunday. The Loughborough role is for 30 hours across four days per week, also across Monday to Sunday, and includes support for two wards. Shifts fall within the 08:00 to 16:00 rota window.
Ward Clerks play an essential part in busy inpatient multidisciplinary teams. You will often be the first person that visitors, relatives and external clinicians meet or speak to, so a calm, helpful and professional approach is important. The wards support sub-acute care, complex rehabilitation and palliative care. You will be a visible source of information and practical support, helping the ward run smoothly.
This is a suitable role for someone who is well organised, communicates clearly, and enjoys working with people.
Key duties
- Act as a first point of contact for relatives and carers, handling phone calls with patience and sensitivity.
- Provide everyday clerical and administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.
- Help maintain accurate record keeping, including correct documentation of admissions and discharges.
- Respond to ward enquiries from visitors and professionals, and direct them to the appropriate staff member when needed.
- Support the ward in a setting where indirect exposure to distressing or emotional situations may sometimes occur.
Additional information
Free on-site parking is available, and a local bus stop is nearby. The Trust supports a healthy work-life balance and offers flexible working options where possible.
Please note that sponsorship cannot be provided for this position. The minimum number of hours that can be considered is 22.5 per week, so applicants who need sponsorship or cannot meet that minimum should not apply as an interview cannot be offered.
The advert may be closed early if enough suitable applications are received, so early application is advised.
