Underground Nipper

About the role

Westfill is looking for an Underground Nipper to support underground mining operations in Perth, Western Australia. The position is central to keeping production moving safely and efficiently by assisting the underground crew, maintaining worksite standards, and helping reduce delays during jumbo operations.

Key duties

• Help minimise jumbo downtime by supporting repairs when needed.
• Work with the jumbo operator during bolt and mesh installation for ground support.
• Make sure the mining team has the supplies and equipment needed for smooth workflow.
• Support underground operators and service crew as required.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
• Accurately complete shift report records within required timeframes.
• Take part in shift handovers and gather details for the next crew’s tasks.
• Help maintain a positive, safe, and productive team environment.

About you

• You should have at least 1 year of experience in underground mining, including truck and nipper duties.
• Strong planning, organisation, and troubleshooting abilities are important for this role.
• You need to be proactive, work well in a team, and follow safety rules and procedures.
• The role requires the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• A current manual driver’s licence is mandatory.
• You must have full Australian working rights.
• You need to be based in Western Australia and available for FIFO work.
• Valid LV and manual scaling tickets are required.
