Technical Compliance Manager - Italy

About the Role

Betsson Group is seeking a Technical Compliance Manager dedicated to the Italian market. This position involves ensuring that the company’s platforms, systems, and processes meet all regulatory and technical compliance requirements, while also supporting commercial objectives. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior professionals including the Head of Legal & Compliance (Italy), the Managing Director for Italy, the Technical Director for Italy, and other stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Guarantee full technical compliance with Italian regulatory frameworks, facilitating license applications, renewals, audits, platform certifications, technical migrations, integrations, protocol communications, and server connectivity.
• Conduct gap analyses to assess compliance weaknesses and provide informed recommendations for technical solutions or product implementations.
• Interpret technical mandates from Italian regulatory bodies such as Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM) and Sogei, converting them into practical internal processes and controls to ensure timely compliance.
• Monitor compliance risks, develop mitigation plans, report key risk indicators, and escalate issues with appropriate recommendations for resolution.
• Manage ISO certification processes relevant to the Italian market in coordination with responsible internal teams.
• Work collaboratively with Product, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to integrate compliance in system designs and deliveries, fostering alignment and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain strategic alignment with the Managing Director (Italy), Technical Director (Italy), and senior management to support regulatory priorities and operational excellence.
• Execute directives from the Head of Legal & Compliance (Italy) and General Counsel, ensuring accurate implementation and ongoing engagement to align with evolving business goals.
• Act as primary point of contact for external auditors, consultants, and regulatory agencies, handling inquiries and submissions related to technical compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 4 years of experience in technical compliance within the iGaming industry, specifically with proven expertise in the Italian gambling market.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of Italian regulatory and compliance standards, including GDPR, AML, and industry best practices such as ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS, and ISO 9001.
• Technical proficiency to engage with technical teams including architects, developers, and DBAs.
• Ability to translate complex technical compliance requirements into accessible business terms and drive implementation.
• Proven communication, analytical, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience working with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
• Familiarity with compliance tools and systems.
• Excellent teamwork and solution-oriented mindset.
• Native proficiency in Italian and excellent command of written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent IT audit qualifications.
• Experience in programming, XML, and database technologies.
