Role Overview

The Systems Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and supporting the IT infrastructure of Iberostar in Jamaica. Responsibilities encompass installation, troubleshooting, and upkeep of computer systems, networks, servers, peripherals, and related technologies, ensuring consistent and secure operational performance. Providing prompt technical assistance and aiding in system upgrades along with security and documentation are key to maintaining a reliable IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver initial technical support for production applications.
Maintain and troubleshoot WiFi networks and connectivity issues.
Assist and coordinate with suppliers visiting the hotel site.
Perform daily verification of backup routines.
Keep IT equipment inventory updated and current.
Ensure company antivirus software remains valid and updated.
Manage periodic operating system updates on computers.
Support training programs related to company software usage.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on devices like printers and computers.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Holds a Certificate in Information Technology; university education in IT is advantageous.
Familiarity with ITIL and agile methodologies is preferred.
Proficiency with Linux, Windows, and communication systems.
Experience in the hotel industry is desirable.
Exhibits innovation, proactivity, autonomy, and strong problem-solving skills.
Able to stay composed under pressure and communicate effectively at all levels.
Possesses a customer service mindset and is comfortable working both independently and within a team.
Intermediate English proficiency; Spanish knowledge is a plus.

Technical Knowledge

Administration of hotel-specific IT systems.
Management and support of hotel WiFi networks.
Providing IT services during new business unit openings.
Conducting user support and reporting activities through Iberostar Service Management.
Handling incident resolution including escalation and liaising with third parties.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks effectively.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Team-oriented yet capable of autonomous work.

Languages

Advanced English (native level preferred).
