Role Overview

This position is for a SWIFT Payment Integration Subject Matter Expert who can lead the technical design and integration of cross-border payment messaging, ISO 20022 structures, and SWIFT ecosystem capabilities. The role focuses on designing reliable message flows, improving validation, and connecting SWIFT services with banking channels and downstream enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end cross-border payment message flows and convert older messaging formats into structured XML-based ISO 20022 formats.
  • Lead the technical design and schema validation for pacs.004 payment return messages and camt.056 investigation or recall messages for both incoming and outgoing processing.
  • Maintain strong data quality across mapping layers so that information is not lost or truncated during core banking processing.
  • Define the target architecture for the SWIFT Pre-validation API to reduce transaction rejection at the source.
  • Build the integration approach for SWIFT Case Management to simplify and automate exception handling.
  • Create connections that expose SWIFT gpi tracker data in private online banking and corporate online banking customer interfaces.
  • Develop automation logic for incoming SWIFT rails, including FX rate application and trigger-based credit advice generation.
  • Design routing and handling logic for compliance-related workflows, including automated notifications to banking staff interfaces when processing fails.
  • Use industry tools such as SWIFT MyStandards to document usage rules, message structures, and validation requirements.

Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 5 years of direct hands-on experience with SWIFT connectivity, messaging engines, and messaging architecture.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ISO 20022 message structures, especially pacs and camt formats.
  • Practical experience with SWIFT APIs such as gpi, Pre-validation, and case management using REST, JSON, and secure communication layers.
  • Experience with complex data transformation, MT-to-MX mapping, and validation using SWIFT MyStandards or similar tools.
  • Understanding of how SWIFT messages connect with core banking systems, FX pricing platforms, AML checks, and sanctions screening.
