Role Overview
The Trust is recruiting a Specialty Doctor to serve in the acute inpatient ward at Hammersmith and Fulham Mental Health Unit. This position involves working within a multidisciplinary team led by a consultant psychiatrist, who also acts as the line manager. The specialty doctor will primarily be assigned to one ward and work consistently with one team but may occasionally collaborate with other inpatient teams as part of a 10 programmed activities (PA) role.
Our acute general adult wards prioritize rapid initiation of safe and effective treatment plans while minimizing any delays unrelated to clinical care within patient pathways.
Opportunities and Development
This is a stimulating chance to help enhance a proficient ward team, including involvement in ongoing co-production projects aimed at improving physical healthcare, patient experience, and advancing inpatient care services.
Responsibilities and Team Collaboration
The postholder will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team led by the consultant psychiatrist, ward team manager, unit manager, and local leads to provide leadership, clinical supervision, and support staff development. Responsibilities include delivering senior assessments, offering expert advice and supervision, and leading ward rounds alongside patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
