About Imprint

Imprint develops a platform that helps leading consumer brands increase customer lifetime value. The company began with co-branded credit cards and redesigned them to be more intelligent, more rewarding, and centered around the brand experience. Its partners include Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell, and together they launch modern credit offerings that strengthen loyalty, create savings opportunities, and support growth.

Beyond the card, Imprint combines advanced payments infrastructure, smart underwriting, and rich customer data to anticipate customer actions and respond in real time. This lets brands launch powerful financial products without needing to operate like a bank. The company is building a modern alternative to legacy bank rails: flexible, embeddable, and designed for how people pay today. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, Ribbit, and Khosla Ventures, Imprint is growing a team that wants to move quickly, tackle difficult problems, and own meaningful outcomes.

The opportunity

  • Take ownership of important financial systems from start to finish, including transaction authorization, ledger accounting, credit decisioning, rewards logic, and payment processing.
  • Help create brand-new products as the business expands, not only maintaining existing systems but also designing and launching capabilities that do not yet exist.
  • Contribute to core platform improvements such as shared services, API foundations, and developer tools that increase speed and reliability across engineering.
  • Use AI throughout the development process, from prototyping and testing to production delivery, as AI-assisted workflows are part of the way the team works.
  • Work closely across product, design, infrastructure, compliance, solutions engineering, and brand partner teams.
  • Operate in a fast-moving environment where individuals have real responsibility and can directly influence outcomes.

What we're looking for

  • At least 5 years of experience building backend systems in production; fintech experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with systems that process real money, serve real users, or make real-time decisions, with strong attention to correctness.
  • Solid programming ability in Go, or another comparable language with the ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Exposure to AI development tools such as code assistants, MCP servers, or agent-based workflows, or a strong interest in adopting them.
  • Experience maintaining data consistency and transactional integrity in distributed systems.
  • Strong relational database skills, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
  • Ability to design APIs used by internal applications and external partners.
  • Practical knowledge of AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tooling.
  • Experience participating in on-call rotations and incident response, including root cause analysis.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate naturally with product, design, and engineering partners.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations and making pragmatic tradeoffs to keep delivery moving.

Tech stack

Go, MySQL, DynamoDB, Temporal, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Datadog, and Statsig.

Perks and benefits

  • Competitive pay along with equity.
  • Choice of a top-tier configured work computer.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Fully covered high-quality health insurance, including dependent coverage.
  • Additional health options such as access to One Medical and the ability to enroll in an FSA.
  • 20 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers and 8 weeks for all new parents.
  • Access to leading technology across the business, with investment in tools that support innovation, efficiency, and productivity.

Additional information

This role is based in New York, NY and is an onsite full-time position. Imprint welcomes candidates from all backgrounds who are excited about building the future of payments and rewards.
