Role Overview
The Skill Development Coach serves as a Disability Support Worker within Carpentaria's Pathways Program, delivering individualized, participant-focused assistance that supports their NDIS goals toward improved quality of life. This role involves creatively facilitating and managing comprehensive skill-building programs tailored to the needs of participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration within a dynamic team environment to promote participant involvement in diverse skill development activities.
- Supervision and assistance in meal preparation, medication administration, and personal care.
- Ensuring safe transportation for participants attending recreational events.
- Supporting specialized programs including Nailed It (woodworking), Textiles, and Media, with flexibility to assist other activities as required.
- Perform duties during standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate exhibits a strong passion for supporting individuals living with disabilities and possesses prior experience in this sector. They demonstrate a commitment to building constructive relationships with both participants and team members and show particular expertise or enthusiasm in fields such as woodworking, carpentry, textiles, photography, videography, graphic design, or digital media. Enthusiasm for learning new skills is also valued.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of at least a Certificate III in Individual Support or engagement in its completion.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability to work flexible shifts within Monday to Friday business hours.
- Proficiency in computer operations.
- Excellent organizational abilities and effective time management.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Ochre Card, Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, First Aid certificate, and a Northern Territory Driver’s Licence.
