Role Overview

If you have a keen interest in working with electricity, mechanics, and hydraulics, this role offers a significant opportunity to help maintain wind turbines and support the shift toward renewable energy. As a Service Technician with Vestas, a global pioneer in sustainable energy, you will apply your technical expertise across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems after undergoing comprehensive training designed to hone advanced skills. Safety remains a core priority in every task performed.

Work Environment and Locations

  • This role requires presence across various regional locations in Australia; it is not a fly-in-fly-out position, and residing within the region is essential.
  • Operational areas include WA (Merredin, Jurien Bay, Geraldton), SA (Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier), VIC (Warnambool, Ballarat, Sale), NSW (Canberra/Goulburn, Inverell/Glen Innes), QLD (Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton), and TAS (Musselroe, Granville Harbour).
  • Standard work hours are 8 per day, with on-call duties approximately once every 3 to 4 weekends.
  • Travel commitments approximate 50 days annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold stringent health, safety, and environmental standards while achieving service goals.
  • Conduct routine inspection services following Vestas’ guidelines, including replacement and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
  • Ensure optimal turbine operation through condition monitoring and remote control systems.
  • Manage service vehicles and inventory effectively by procuring tools, materials, and spare parts as needed.
  • Assemble and maintain components per defined standards, utilizing cranes when required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Trade certification in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic fields with enthusiasm to enhance expertise.
  • Proficient computer literacy for managing work and documentation using various systems and tools.
  • Effective communication abilities in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Essential Competencies

  • Strong dedication to maintaining highest standards in workplace health and safety.
  • Physical capability to ascend wind turbines and perform demanding tasks at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as required.
  • Teamwork aptitude and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, cooperating closely with onsite teammates and other departments.
  • Independent, well-organized, and solution-focused work approach.
