Senior Sourcing Specialist

About the Role

DCM Integrated Solutions Inc. and TES Group are joining forces to enhance their procurement capabilities specifically in the market for fired heaters, package boilers, Once-Through Steam Generators (OTSG), Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), and related specialty equipment. To support this expansion, they are looking for an experienced Senior Sourcing Specialist. This key role focuses on supply chain development, involving identification of new suppliers, negotiating long-term supply contracts, and managing subcontracts for engineered, nature-code stamped thermal and pressure equipment.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the procurement function for engineered-to-order equipment packages, combining technical expertise with commercial insight to source highly engineered components globally and oversee complex subcontracts from fabrication to delivery.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead procurement of specialty equipment and engineered components, including burners, coils, harps, drums, headers, pressure parts, refractory, castings, instrumentation, and other ancillary systems for fired heaters, package boilers, OTSGs, and HRSGs.
• Formulate sourcing strategies for long lead-time and engineered-to-order items, including supply agreements, reservations of capacity, expediting protocols, and pre-qualification of specialty fabricators and OEMs.
• Interpret complex technical documents such as engineering drawings, P&IDs, weld maps, datasheets, and specifications, with familiarity in ASME Section I and VIII, API 560/530/12K, and relevant pressure equipment jurisdictional standards.
• Collaborate closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Estimating, and Project Management teams to provide vendor input, budget pricing, and lead time data during proposals and project development.
• Create, issue, and oversee subcontracts for fabrication, modularization, field services, nondestructive examination (NDE), heat treatment, refractory installation, coatings, and other specialty trades.
• Manage negotiations for one-time purchases and long-term agreements, covering terms and conditions, remedies, warranties, performance guarantees, change order frameworks, and back-charge clauses.
• Administer and monitor subcontract performance relating to schedule, quality, safety, and commercial terms; proactively handle claims, change orders, and dispute resolution.
• Lead the RFQ process from scope definition through technical bid evaluation, commercial alignment, and awarding of contracts.
• Steer vendor selection ensuring alignment with project timelines, code and quality standards, and commercial objectives.
• Maintain procurement schedules and communicate risks, mitigation strategies, and any potential cost or timing impacts to project stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain a specialty vendor and supply base for fired heater, boiler, OTSG, and HRSG markets, including domestic and international fabricators and OEMs.
• Conduct vendor qualification, shop audits, and performance evaluations to manage the Approved Vendor List.
• Monitor market trends including pricing, capacity, lead times, and materials such as carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, and nickel-based alloys to inform sourcing strategies and estimating.
• Contribute to building and improving procurement processes, KPIs, tools, templates, and governance within the specialty equipment procurement function.
• Mentor procurement team members and act as a subject matter expert on specialty equipment procurement and subcontract management.
• Work collaboratively across operations, engineering, estimating, project controls, and QA/QC to integrate procurement into the overall project delivery framework.

Requirements

• A minimum of eight years’ experience in supply chain roles, with demonstrated background in pressure equipment, structural steel, ductwork, and plant equipment procurement.
• Preferred experience working with fired heaters, boilers, OTSGs, HRSGs, or similar engineered pressure and thermal equipment sourcing or subcontracting.
• Strong technical skills required to interpret complex engineering documentation, including P&IDs, weld maps, and specifications; familiarity with ASME, API, and CSA/provincial pressure equipment codes.
• Expertise in negotiation and commercial contracting, particularly in terms and conditions management, claims handling, and change order processes.
• Experienced with ERP and procurement software in project-driven environments.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with project teams, suppliers, and senior leadership.
• Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related disciplines. Professional designations such as SCMP or CPSM considered a plus.
