Senior Product Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver new and enhanced features across our full technology stack, addressing frontend, backend, and infrastructure components.
• Develop, ship, and maintain high-quality software with a strong emphasis on empowering developer experiences and business scalability.
• Collaborate with teammates on architectural decisions and uphold coding standards to ensure quality across the platform.
• Engage with our developer community to identify and resolve pain points, enhancing product usability and value.
• Work autonomously in a low-meeting, fast-deployment environment, deploying multiple times daily with significant ownership of outcomes.

Technologies Used

• Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Shadcn, TanStack Router.
• Backend: Python with FastAPI, Postgres, Redis, Dramatiq.
• Cloud Platforms: Vercel, Render, AWS.

Candidate Profile

• At least 7 years experience delivering, shipping, and scaling robust software solutions.
• Strong ability to quickly solve diverse problems end-to-end across frontend, backend, and infrastructure domains.
• Proficiency with Polar's technology stack or similarly advanced tools, and eagerness to adapt to new technologies rapidly.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a sharp focus on optimizing developer experience.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure and managing applications across multiple cloud environments.
• Effective collaboration capabilities within small, high-performing teams, with a willingness to contribute broadly in a startup setting.
• Passion for craftsmanship including attention to animations, handling of edge cases, performance improvements, and enhancing usability.
• Bonus qualifications: background as a startup founder or CTO, open source project maintainer, indie hacker, or experience in payments, billing, or developer tool domains.
