Role Overview

We seek an experienced Senior Manager to oversee the daily operational activities at Hamad International Airport (HIA). You will be the principal authority on shift, accountable for ensuring all airport functions are safe, compliant, and executed efficiently while maintaining top-tier service quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead diverse teams to uphold high standards of safety, security, and service quality.
  • Serve as the main liaison with governmental authorities during operational shifts.
  • Maintain continuous communication with airlines, agencies, and partners.
  • Manage the strategic distribution of staffing, equipment, and resources to optimize operations.
  • Drive initiatives that elevate Airport Service Quality (ASQ) metrics.

  • Prepare and deliver executive operational reports to senior leadership.
  • Establish strong partnerships with airlines and station management teams.
  • Lead emergency and incident responses effectively, enforce airport emergency protocols, and promote root cause analysis with preventive measures.
  • Ensure seamless business operations during infrastructure disruptions.
  • Set strategic goals aligned with overall business objectives and promote continuous operational improvement and excellence.
  • Coach and develop staff including the cultivation of national talent.
  • Represent HIA in operational forums and decision-making sessions.
  • Uphold compliance with ICAO standards, airport regulations, safety, security, environmental policies, and data protection mandates.
  • Be accountable for incident reporting and champion a culture of workplace safety.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
  • At least 8 years of directly relevant experience, including senior management roles.
  • Completion of airline-related training covering Passenger Services, Ramp Operations, Baggage, and Cargo.
  • Extensive involvement in commercial management teams and proven skills in process reengineering, solution design, project and change management.
  • Deep expertise across airport operational sectors and prior experience in airport/airline control centers preferred.
  • Experience working in the Middle East is an asset.
  • Completion of Aerodrome Safety Management and ICAO/ACI/IATA training is desirable.
  • Hub control and comprehensive knowledge in airside operations, terminal operations, and resource planning are advantageous.

Required Skills

  • Expert knowledge of both airside and landside airport operations.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Profound understanding of ICAO SARPs related to airport operations and aerodrome emergency procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Strong managerial capabilities, including delegation, direction setting, mentoring, and team development skills.
