Senior Finance Manager

Overview

This role, offered through a partner company based in Germany, involves leading finance operations within an organization dedicated to advancing the global energy transition. The Senior Finance Manager will oversee various financial functions to support sustainable growth and informed decision-making, operating fully remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage comprehensive financial operations ensuring precision, dependability, and efficiency.
• Maintain detailed financial records, including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and documenting all transactions accurately.
• Handle invoice processing, expense reimbursements, and payments while adhering to accounting controls and compliance requirements.
• Assist with financial closing procedures monthly, quarterly, and annually, along with internal financial reporting.
• Develop and oversee budgets for projects and departments, supporting forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Manage cash flow, conduct financial analyses, assess risks, and engage in strategic financial management.
• Ensure compliance with German accounting and tax rules in coordination with external advisors.
• Administer payroll processes for internal teams and employer-of-record arrangements.
• Collaborate with human resources, administration, leadership, and external vendors on finance-related issues.
• Support audit preparations, fundraising efforts, and respond to financial documentation requests as needed.
• Enhance finance processes and internal controls to build scalable and efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• At least eight years’ professional experience in finance, accounting, controlling, bookkeeping, or similar finance roles.
• Deep understanding of accounting standards and experience ensuring compliance with local financial regulations.
• Proven capability managing finance functions independently, especially in a remote working setting.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Odoo, Datev, or related financial management platforms.
• Strong analytical aptitude with proficiency in financial data handling and tools including Google Sheets and Excel.
• Exceptional detail orientation, organizational skills, and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
• Effective communicator capable of working with widely distributed teams.
• Fluent in English; German language skills beneficial for communication with external partners.
• Self-motivated, initiative-driven, and able to create effective finance processes without extensive oversight.
• Experience within startups, nonprofit sectors, energy industry, or open-source initiatives is advantageous.
