Role Overview

The Senior Executive - Procurement will manage the sourcing and purchasing of electrical and electronic spare parts, cables, and related materials essential for electrification projects. This includes procurement of MRO electrical, electronic, and instrumentation spares and consumables sourced both locally and globally.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess potential suppliers for electrical equipment, build lasting partnerships, negotiate contracts and pricing to secure optimal value, and monitor supplier performance while resolving issues.
  • Evaluate technical specifications and requirements for electrical equipment, adhering to industry standards and regulations, collaborating closely with engineering teams to review designs, suggest alternatives, and select suitable vendors.
  • Analyze procurement-related costs including materials, shipping, customs fees, and taxes. Spot cost reduction opportunities and devise strategies to optimize procurement processes while maintaining quality and dependability.
  • Coordinate with internal units such as engineering, project management, and operations to synchronize procurement schedules with project timelines and ensure timely delivery of electrical components.
  • Identify procurement risks like supply chain interruptions, quality issues, and market changes; develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing options to mitigate these risks.
  • Ensure strict adherence to procurement laws, regulations, and company policies covering vendor selection and contract management, and maintain thorough documentation including purchase orders, invoices, and supplier agreements.
  • Keep abreast of market trends, new technologies, and evolving conditions in electrical equipment procurement to implement best practices and improve procurement efficiency.

Candidate Profile and Competencies

  • Solid experience in procurement of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation MRO spares, consumables, cables, and project materials from local and international suppliers.
  • Competence in supplier identification, evaluation, sourcing, negotiation, contract administration, and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Ability to interpret electrical specifications and drawings, analyze procurement costs, and identify cost-saving measures.
  • Familiarity with SAP or equivalent ERP systems and strong understanding of procurement documentation practices.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills coupled with collaboration abilities to work harmoniously with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to evaluate risks, alternatives, and make informed procurement decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize procurement tasks to meet deadlines.

Educational and Professional Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 6 to 8 years of procurement or sourcing experience, with a specialized focus on Electrical MRO procurement.
  • Previous procurement experience preferably in electrical, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical systems, components, equipment, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, cost analysis, procurement best practices, and ERP systems like SAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and presentations.
