- Prepare, evaluate, and post journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, payroll records, commissions, and closing schedules.
- Oversee the U.S. payroll process using the PEO partner, including updates, review, submission, and related accounting entries.
- Calculate commissions and coordinate payments.
- Administer spend management accounting using tools like Mesh, ensuring proper coding, approvals, receipts handling, and synchronization with NetSuite.
- Manage accounts receivable billing functions and oversee revenue and AR cycles.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. sales tax and multi-state reporting obligations, collaborating with external advisors as needed.
- Identify and implement AI and automation tools to improve finance workflows, controls, and reporting, reducing manual effort.
- Assist with audit processes, tax filings, compliance matters, and requests from investors.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, controllership, or similar finance roles within fast-growing SaaS startups.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Proven experience managing books for a U.S. legal entity.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP principles.
- Hands-on expertise with NetSuite financial software.
- Experienced performing monthly closes, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing U.S. payroll processes, preferably with a PEO.
- Knowledge of commissions or sales compensation handling.
- Familiarity with U.S. sales tax and multi-state tax reporting.
- Experience with spend management platforms like Mesh, Ramp, Brex, or Airbase.
- Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Strong accountability, detail orientation, and ability to work autonomously.
- Experience leveraging AI tools or automation to improve finance and accounting processes.
- History supporting audits and tax filings.
- Proven management experience and collaboration with C-level executives.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with subscription management and CRM software such as Chargebee, HubSpot, or Salesforce.
- Familiarity supporting investor due diligence.
- Background building and scaling finance teams in high-growth companies.
Successful Candidate Traits
- Proactive and comfortable with hands-on execution.
- Detail-driven yet focused on process improvement.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Revenue Operations, Billing, HR, and FP&A teams.
- Practical and enthusiastic about adopting automation to optimize finance operations.
- Able to introduce structure, accountability, and scalability to the U.S. finance function as it grows.
