Overview
The Senior Application Analyst is a certified expert with at least 6 years of experience in implementing and supporting one or more clinical IT applications. This role involves providing in-depth support, training, and informatics assistance and collaborating closely with various levels of application analysts to configure and implement clinical applications. The analyst must understand clinical workflows and collaborate with healthcare professionals to support application development. Additionally, the senior analyst advises team leadership on prioritization and resource allocation and mentors junior analysts. The position requires flexibility for shift work to provide 24/7 support in a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and documentation of requirements and validation sessions.
- Collaboration with business and clinical operations to capture clinical workflows and processes.
- Analyzing queries related to clinical application functionality.
- Delivering site support, training, and informatics assistance as needed.
- Resolving incidents and independently handling operational and enhancement requests.
- Adhering to IT change control processes and participating in change control meetings.
- Mentoring and developing Level 1 and Level 2 application analysts.
- Leading and contributing to clinical application projects alongside project managers.
- Assisting team leads with project scoping and task effort estimation.
- Leading workflow design by providing subject matter expertise.
- Supporting sprint and capacity planning for enhancement deliveries.
- Comprehensively understanding clinical applications to analyze, design, build/configure, and validate functionality.
- Implementing and maintaining clinical application functionality according to operational and technical requirements.
- Working with other analysts to build clinical application features based on requirements.
- Gaining familiarity with other clinical IT applications beyond direct responsibilities.
- Performing detailed data analysis, designing specifications, and documenting accordingly.
- Coordinating reporting requests and assisting with report requirements and validation.
- Supporting testing activities, developing test plans, and managing change control compliance.
- Utilizing data governance principles to monitor team and personal performance.
- Analyzing and proposing innovative solutions for system challenges.
- Highlighting system configuration and integration issues.
- Maintaining and adhering to issue tracking procedures.
- Collaborating with enterprise subject matter experts to resolve clinical application incidents.
- Participating in escalation procedures and troubleshooting with appropriate internal resources.
- Serving as a key resource for best practices, translating clinical methods into application specifications and documentation.
- Mentoring and developing junior analysts.
- Providing end-user support for technical issues, new implementations, and system upgrades related to electronic medical records and clinical systems.
- Training healthcare workers on clinical applications, enhancing their skills and communicating application updates.
- Creating and maintaining training materials including manuals and multimedia aids.
- Contributing to clinical application training environments.
- Implementing software design changes based on enhancement specifications.
- Applying Quality Improvement principles under lead supervision for documentation and support.
- Supporting new users during go-live phases including direct provider support.
- Leading troubleshooting efforts for user system problems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; clinical degrees in Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Healthcare Management are preferred alongside Healthcare IT experience.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in clinical application implementation is mandatory.
- Preferred licensure in medically related fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Laboratory, or Medical Technology.
- Certifications across multiple clinical applications are essential.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry with familiarity in clinical and hospital administrative functions.
- Experience with programming and clinical reporting tools.
- Ability to handle server operations and apply software upgrades.
- Self-motivated with ability to manage workload independently.
- Team-oriented attitude fostering a positive work environment.
- Customer service focused with strong verbal and written communication skills for clinical and IT stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS Office suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency preferred.
- Additional certifications like Epic Cadence, ADT, and 3M coding modules are advantageous.
