The Opportunity

As a SCADA Automation Support Engineer within the Operations Technology Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting water and wastewater services across New Zealand. This position involves providing critical 24/7 support, maintaining, and enhancing SCADA systems that are essential to operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day operational support and manage on-call coverage for SCADA systems across Veolia’s New Zealand facilities.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize SCADA and automation systems to ensure high performance.
• Provide continuous 24/7 support to operational teams located in various sites.
• Offer insights to improve process efficiency and operational excellence.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to manage telemetry, communications, and instrumentation services.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and health and safety requirements.
• Support the execution of preventative maintenance programs and testing schedules.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, SCADA, or related discipline) or comparable qualifications through education and experience.
• Proven expertise managing SCADA, telemetry systems, and monitoring equipment.
• Familiarity with the water or process industries, including water treatment technologies.
• Keen understanding of water quality and assurance monitoring initiatives.
• Strong background in electrical design and process control.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SCADA platforms such as Datran, InTouch, GeoSCADA, Powerlink, Aspex, or Citec.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater operations, maintenance activities, and projects.
• Understanding of resource consent compliance and water quality regulations.
