Safety Officer

Overview

The Safety Officer position involves being the key Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) representative on company project sites. This role requires enforcing HSE protocols and ensuring adherence to company policies, client expectations, and relevant UAE laws.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Possession of NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC).
• At least 4 years of practical experience in field HSE roles.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong abilities in technical report writing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive daily safety inspections on site.
• Record inspection outcomes using standardized checklists.
• Ensure all personnel consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Oversee safety compliance enforcement among subcontractors.
• Issue safety observation reports and non-compliance notices as necessary.
• Validate compliance with Permit to Work procedures, especially before high-risk and hot work activities.
• Confirm valid certifications of workers, including competency, working at height, scaffolding, and first aid before deployment.
• Manage and update the site HSE equipment register, monitoring inspection schedules and certificate expirations.
• Conduct thorough investigations of incidents and near misses, producing timely reports on findings.
• Compile weekly and monthly HSE performance documentation.
• Facilitate mandatory HSE inductions and daily toolbox talks for workforce training.
• Support and participate in internal, external ISO audits, client audits, and local regulatory inspections.

Education and Certification Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in HSE, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Mandatory NEBOSH IGC certification.
