Research Governance Officer

Overview

This role is essential within the Research and Innovation Team, offering governance oversight and support across the Trust's research activities. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in research governance, particularly within the NHS or academic institutions.

Key Duties

• Manage and conduct monitoring and audit of ongoing research projects.
• Compile critical research data to fulfill statutory requirements.
• Coordinate research study initiation, amendments, annual and end-of-study reporting.
• Administer and enhance the Edge interactive database system.
• Oversee compliance with research governance standards and ensure achievement of CRN and NIHR targets.
• Handle invoicing processes including raising requisitions and tracking payments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of clinical research governance and relevant regulatory frameworks including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and The UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
• Demonstrated experience in research governance within NHS or university settings.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent IT proficiency, especially with web-based applications and MS Office tools.
• Advanced skills in handling and analyzing data using spreadsheets and databases.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt flexibly to working demands.
• Collaborative attitude to contribute effectively within the Research & Innovation team.
