About IAG and the Role

We are seeking a Specialist in Remediation Calculation to develop and implement the methodologies and logic that determine fair and accurate customer refunds. This permanent full-time position is available at multiple locations across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and define refund methodologies, carefully documenting all assumptions, decisions, and limitations to maintain clarity and uniformity.
- Create and deliver reliable refund calculation tools to facilitate large-scale and precise remediation efforts.
- Collaborate closely with Pricing, Data, and Remediation teams to specify data requirements and confirm the accuracy of inputs used in calculations.
- Evaluate complex cases using sound judgment to ensure refund calculations accurately reflect the nuances of each issue.
- Enhance methodologies and analytical processes to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency across the remediation activities.
- Assist in audit and review processes, including peer reviews, to verify that results are defensible, accurate, and appropriate.
Required Experience and Skills
- Proven practical experience in pricing, actuarial science, or quantitative analytics within financial services, with solid expertise in at least one of these domains.
- Comprehensive knowledge of insurance pricing principles and how these influence customer outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of handling complex scenarios and producing dependable results.
- Competence with data tools or programming languages such as SQL, SAS, Python, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Effective communication skills for explaining intricate methodologies and calculations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects with precision in a dynamic environment.
