Position Overview

The Department of Civil Engineering at the American University of Sharjah is seeking qualified candidates for regular or visiting faculty appointments at the assistant, associate, or full professor level starting in the Fall Semester of 2027. Regular faculty positions involve conducting active, high-level research programs backed by internal and external funds with a renewable three-year contract. Visiting faculty positions primarily focus on teaching and come with a renewable one-year contract.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline, demonstrating a substantial teaching record. Excellence in both teaching and research, along with familiarity with the American higher education model, are highly valued. Applicants for the regular position should specialize in construction engineering and management, or digital construction, while visiting faculty may specialize in any civil engineering area.

The department serves a diverse community of nearly 90 nationalities and offers multiple degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Digital Construction Engineering and Management, Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Master of Science in Construction Management, and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
