Role Overview
EMCO Hamilton Mountain seeks a detail-minded Quotations Specialist to support its Bid & Specification Quotations team. This role suits new graduates or early-career professionals keen on numbers, problem-solving, and deadline management. The position offers comprehensive training and mentoring, guiding the incumbent through all phases of the quotation process, from interpreting construction documents to preparing and managing bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop competency in reading construction drawings, schedules, and specifications
- Assist in quantity takeoffs and compiling precise material lists
- Gather pricing, availability, lead times, and technical info from suppliers
- Work under senior team members to formulate and organize customer quotations
- Monitor bid timelines, project modifications, and quotation updates
- Maintain thorough electronic records and documentation for projects
- Spot specification omissions, potential substitutions, and project opportunities
- Support management of awarded projects including coordination of submittals, purchasing, deliveries, and change orders
Career Progression
With experience, responsibilities increase to include complex projects and independent quotation management. Growth paths include senior quotation roles, project management, sales (technical or account-based), purchasing, vendor relations, operations, and profit center leadership.
Additional Duties
- Communicate any customer business alterations posing credit risks to management
- Perform other related tasks as directed by the Profit Centre Manager
Qualifications
- Preferred diploma or degree in business, construction, engineering technology, estimating, supply chain, or related areas
- Experience in customer service, administrative support, estimating, construction, or sales is advantageous
- Exceptional attention to detail and dedication to accuracy
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization capabilities
- Comfortable working with numerical data, pricing structures, spreadsheets, and detailed records
- Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and improve continuously
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance teamwork with individual responsibility
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook and Excel
- Experience with construction drawings or specifications and product knowledge in plumbing or mechanical fields is helpful but not mandatory

Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary ranges from $50,000 to $60,000, combining base pay and profit-sharing based on individual and business performance.
