Role Overview
This full-time, onsite Quantity Surveyor position is located in Havelock North. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost plans, and detailed estimates primarily for residential construction projects. They must ensure budget accuracy and appropriate pricing throughout project phases. The role demands active cost control and consistent cost reporting during construction, vigilantly monitoring spend against budgets and flagging any discrepancies early. Collaboration with project managers, designers, and suppliers to verify quantities, negotiate pricing, and assist procurement decisions is fundamental. The Quantity Surveyor will also engage in financial risk assessment and value engineering, maintaining current cost data to facilitate well-informed decisions and successful project outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in cost planning and management, including the ability to create detailed budgets and forecasts.
- Experience in preparing BOQs, performing measurements, and estimating costs for residential building projects.
- Proficient in cost control and reporting, able to analyze and communicate financial performance effectively.
- Holds a tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, or a closely related field.
- Knowledgeable about New Zealand's building codes, standards, and construction contract frameworks.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to accuracy and detail.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work alongside project managers, designers, contractors, and suppliers with clear written and verbal communication.
- Competence in quantity surveying and construction cost management software along with MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.
- Prior experience working on residential or high-spec housing developments is highly valued.
