Role Summary
As the Quality Systems Manager at the Llantarnam bakery, you will lead the management and enhancement of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure it remains effective, compliant, and continuously improving. Your responsibility is to maintain the control, integrity, and accessibility of quality documentation and records while ensuring the site is audit-ready and compliant with regulatory, customer, and business requirements. You'll collaborate across departments to foster a culture of quality excellence and provide expert leadership on quality governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure the QMS is current, effective, and compliant with Ferrero, FBC UK Group, customer, and regulatory standards.
- Develop, implement, and uphold site-specific quality policies, procedures, standards, and codes of practice aligned with group guidelines and customer expectations.
- Embed and cascade quality processes throughout the site per FBC UK network definitions.
- Manage quality documentation and records ensuring accuracy, up-to-date status, proper control, and accessibility.
- Lead sanitation, GMP, HACCP, and pest control programmes to uphold hygiene standards with comprehensive documentation.
- Supervise internal and external monitoring activities ensuring proper adherence to quality procedures and instructions.
- Validate product quality assessments, pinpoint risks and growth areas, and drive corrective and continuous improvement actions.
- Analyze quality KPIs, develop and implement corrective action plans, and monitor their effectiveness.
- Champion food safety and quality culture initiatives across the site.
- Ensure site audit readiness for customer, regulatory, certification, and group audits, and provide support during external audits.
- Manage the internal audit programme to ensure compliance and delivery of actionable improvements.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to boost quality performance and operational efficiency.
- Foster a quality-driven culture through coaching, engagement, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Maintain and optimize quality data capture systems for accurate reporting, trend evaluation, and compliance oversight.
- Ensure effective management of quality data to support informed decision-making and continuous enhancement.
Qualifications and Experience
- HACCP Level 3 certification.
- Food Safety Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- Experience managing Quality Systems in food manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of UK retailer standards, particularly M&S and Tesco.
- Proven expertise in maintaining and advancing Quality Management Systems.
- Strong grounding in food safety, GMP, HACCP, quality assurance, sanitation, and pest control practices.
- Experience facilitating internal, customer, and third-party audits.
