Role Overview
We are actively looking for a Quality & Process Control Technician to join the QPC team. This pivotal role focuses on driving quality control and process enhancement initiatives that align with the FI & QPC Pillars alongside Step Zero of World Class Manufacturing (WCM). The technician will help implement quality and process improvement activities while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and maintain control over all critical process control points.
- Apply root cause analysis techniques and manage countermeasures to ensure processes remain under control.
- Update product specifications to reflect ongoing process improvements.
- Monitor and analyze daily process control and quality system data, reporting trends accordingly.
- Ensure production and engineering teams adhere to plant process control criteria and quality standards.
- Contribute to World Class Manufacturing improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Manage efficient laboratory service for production support.
- Oversee calibration of quality control instruments.
- Train laboratory analysts on procedures, including chemical handling protocols.
- Continuously improve capabilities of the Quality Control laboratory.
- Record, verify, and report on lab and shift QC performance results.
- Conduct quality testing on samples as per control plans, following SOPs and standard methods.
- Maintain safe work practices and compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of the lab using 5S system principles; perform regular audits accordingly.
- Serve as a substitute for lab analysts when required.
- Investigate and report deviations found in test results.
- Report any discrepancies or issues to the process engineer promptly.
- Capture and document analytical findings accurately.
- Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities, ensuring all safety guidelines are met.
- Assist and oversee plant trials when necessary.
- Manage stock control for all laboratory chemicals and equipment.
- Administer the Quick Kaizen System to foster continuous improvement.
- Attend morning production meetings and lead quality-focused meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the process engineer or management.
- Engage actively with corporate social responsibility and social upliftment programs as part of the organization's mission.
- Adhere rigorously to corporate governance and risk management protocols set by SGCP Group standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Possession or willingness to obtain a quality management qualification.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, quality control, laboratory operations, or process improvement roles.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO 9001.
- Hands-on experience in quality control testing, laboratory practices, and calibration of equipment.
- Understanding of continuous improvement practices such as Root Cause Analysis and corrective action management.
- Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or related methodologies is advantageous.
- Competency in analyzing process and quality data with the ability to identify trends.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and effective communication skills.
- Certification as an ISO 9001 auditor or implementer would be beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
